1. Why should we vote for you?
You should vote for me because I want to serve and bring change to the department.
2. Why should we NOT vote for you?
You should not vote for me if you don’t believe in me, which I believe is not true, so vote for me!haha.:P
3. What current CS Reps-sponsored programs/activities do you plan to continue or improve?
We plan to improve the Mentorship Program that the previous CS reps initiated and promote more the Dedicated Computer Science Students (UP DCS2). We will still have the GeeCS and the CS Week but plans on how it will flow are still being organized.
4. What new programs/activities do you plan to implement?
We would like to have a Freshie, Transferee, and Shiftee Get-together. They can meet and socialize with other Computer Science students of their batch and even upperclassmen are invited. Teaching Lab Care or TLC will also take place to have proper maintenance and inventory of our lab equipments.
5. Sometimes, candidates promise a lot of things, but when they win, don't actually fulfill them. How can you assure us that everything you just said will be fulfilled?
We have thought about our projects a lot of times. We see to it that these projects be doable, plausible, and benefitting to the department. We can assure you that we will not fail you in implementing our projects.
6. Juggling school work with CS Rep work is hard. How do you plan to manage doing well in your acads and the same time fulfill your responsibilities as a CS rep?
Time Management. This is the key to an organized life. If my life is organized, I can function well both in my academics and being a CS Rep. Also, I must always remind myself to work hard and enjoy what I’m doing. This motivates me to work harder and causing me to be more effective and productive.
7. If you don't win, will you still be willing to serve the department with the same passion and determination that you would have if you won? If yes, how? If not, why?
Yes. Our co-candidates from the other party also have plans for the department; we can suggest our other projects that I think will be good for the department. I can participate in the activities that they will organize and I can volunteer in other activities if I am not super busy with school work.
8. If DCS had a mascot, what should it be? Why?
It should be an owl because most of the students are awake during nighttime and asleep during daytime. :P
9. Apathy has always been a "disease" among Com Sci students, especially regarding campus or even national issues. As a CS Rep, do you plan to address that? If yes, how? If not, why?
Yes. But I believe that Com Sci students are not that apathetic. Maybe, we are just under informed or misinformed or we are too engrossed with our academic life at the moment. We have planned to have an Information Hub where we will post current issues and happenings in our department, college, and university. Parser can also contribute a lot to the students’ awareness of important matters.
10. The CRSRS issue is the most recent issue to rock the UP community. What's your stance on it and why?
I think there should be a change in the CRSRS. As a student Regent, you should be academically capable and stable. Since being an SR is a huge job, it can affect the academic standing of that student. We don’t want our student regent to be kicked out of his or her college. I think there should be a transparency of the selection of our student regent.
11. Do you think we have a chance of winning the Eng'g Cup next year, given that we garnered last place this year? How do you plan to improve our standing next year?
Yes. Every year we start anew! We have 100% chance of winning, if we have the will to do it. We should ask for players earlier so that they will have time to train and do well in the Engineering Cup. We can also ask other students to cheer for our players. We can post schedule of games to update the students of the events that will take place.
12. Should you win as a CS Rep, UP Parser becomes part of your responsibilites since you will be automatically appointed Managing Editor. How do you plan to contribute to Parser?
Since I’m not that good in writing articles, I can help by making sure that the paper will be released on time. I will help Parser in any way I can. We all want it to be successful and the students be well informed.
13. In an alternate universe where you're not taking up Computer Science, what would be your course and why?
I would be an ECE student. I want to take up a course that is different from the courses of my sisters. My eldest sister is a CPA and my other sister is a Registered Nurse. I also thought of taking up Architecture but my father disapproved of it.
14. Give us the best computer-related joke you've got.
Error! Keyboard not attached. Press F1 to continue.
15. Would you rather be the next Bill Gates or the next Steve Jobs? Why?
I’d rather be Steve Jobs because I want to be the CEO of Apple and of Pixar!Yey!hehe. :D
