1. Why should we vote for you?
Because you want a student leader who is hard working and who can make a difference.
2. Why should we NOT vote for you?
If you do not want a student who’s responsible and who knows how to work in a team, then you should not vote for me.
3. What current CS Reps-sponsored programs/activities do you plan to continue or improve?
We plan on improving the Mentorship program and the Dedicated Computer Science Students.
4. What new programs/activities do you plan to implement?
We’ll be having programs for the freshmen to help them get acquainted with the CS life through get-together and orientation.
5. Sometimes, candidates promise a lot of things, but when they win, don't actually fulfill them. How can you assure us that everything you just said will be fulfilled?
The simple fact that I stepped up and give all the time and resources I have is an assurance that I’m serious with what I am pursuing. It won’t be easy but I’ll do all I can to fulfill the activities we’ve lined up and to serve the department and the students.
6. Juggling school work with CS Rep work is hard. How do you plan to manage doing well in your acads and the same time fulfill your responsibilities as a CS rep?
Time management is not so new to me so I think I can balance it pretty well. If there are not much activity in the department and college then I’d be focusing more on acads, and vice versa.
7. If you don't win, will you still be willing to serve the department with the same passion and determination that you would have if you won? If yes, how? If not, why?
Yes. I’d still volunteer as a mentor and as part of the DCSS.
8. If DCS had a mascot, what should it be? Why?
A mouse, so that everyone could relate. It’s an essential part of a computer.
9. Apathy has always been a "disease" among Com Sci students, especially regarding campus or even national issues. As a CS Rep, do you plan to address that? If yes, how? If not, why?
Apathy among CS students really concerns us, that’s why we plan to encourage CS students to join DCSS and other activities. We’d also like to have information board for the announcements so that they could be aware of the hottest issues and events.
10. The CRSRS issue is the most recent issue to rock the UP community. What's your stance on it and why?
I believe there’s a need for change in the current way of selecting our student regent, that’s why my stand is no.
11. Do you think we have a chance of winning the Eng'g Cup next year, given that we garnered last place this year? How do you plan to improve our standing next year?
The problem with regards to Eng’g cup is we lack players and practice. At the start of the school year we’d be looking for interested students to join and maybe a month before the start of the cup, we’d let them practice so that they’d play with better strategies.
12. Should you win as a CS Rep, UP Parser becomes part of your responsibilites since you will be automatically appointed Managing Editor. How do you plan to contribute to Parser?
I’d encourage the Parser team to release issues more often and I would market for their funds as well.
13. In an alternate universe where you're not taking up Computer Science, what would be your course and why?
Civil engineering or accountancy. These are my other 2 options. I’m really more interested in dealing with numbers.
14. Give us the best computer-related joke you've got.
Why do programmers always mix up Halloween and Christmas?
Because Oct 31 equals Dec 25.
15. Would you rather be the next Bill Gates or the next Steve Jobs? Why?
I want to be the next Steve Jobs, who, we all know is responsible for the coolest innovations we have today. He does not settle on computers only but in fact explored his skills in developing new technologies. And with that, I also would want to try different things and offer something new to my fellow CS students.
