1. Why should we vote for you?
I am committed and dedicated to whatever I do, when I start to work on something I never finish until I'm done with it. Especially when I really, really want what I do. I've also been a part of my high school Student Government, so I have some experience. It may not be enough, but I believe I have a strong foundation when it comes to leadership since I have handled events then, and also participated in the National Leadership Training for Student Government Officers. I'm still waiting for my chance to prove what I can do and I think this is the chance.
2. Why should we NOT vote for you?
I have strict parents. Period.
3. What current CS Reps-sponsored programs/activities do you plan to continue or improve?
The mentorship program.
4. What new programs/activities do you plan to implement?
Basically we have 2 SPOA's: ME and MP. ME means Monitoring Education. Under ME, we plan to have a 'freshman-welcome-to-CS' activity called CSPC (Preshie Camp), a book collection/donation drive called ReBook! and a lab maintenance team called LInC (Laboratory Inspection Corps). MP means Making Progress and we have two programs, Professional Buildup for our graduating students and CS Roadshow, a Computer Science 'promotion' scheme to different high schools.
5. Sometimes, candidates promise a lot of things, but when they win, don't actually fulfill them. How can you assure us that everything you just said will be fulfilled?
I promise that I will prioritize our projects first over other projects because it's the reason why we wanted to become representatives, to be of service to our fellow Computer Science students.
6. Juggling school work with CS Rep work is hard. How do you plan to manage doing well in your acads and the same time fulfill your responsibilities as a CS rep?
It all comes down to proper time management, giving more time to what's important first. If being a CS Rep means giving up my free time, then I guess it's not that bad because I don't really like hanging around doing nothing.
7. If you don't win, will you still be willing to serve the department with the same passion and determination that you would have if you won? If yes, how? If not, why?
Of course, losing doesn't mean that I'll also lose my desire to serve. If there's a will, there's a way, right?
8. If DCS had a mascot, what should it be? Why?
Uhm... How about a gigantic cursor? Hahaha...
9. Apathy has always been a "disease" among Com Sci students, especially regarding campus or even national issues. As a CS Rep, do you plan to address that? If yes, how? If not, why?
Yes by publicizing more through our planned ESC website and the Regular College Assemblies. But I guess, we have to start small first, I should start with my self and then continue to others by sharing to my friends friends and acquaintances our opinions on issues.
10. The CRSRS issue is the most recent issue to rock the UP community. What's your stance on it and why?
It's a NO for me. I believe that our student regent should have a grade requirement. I don't expect my leaders to be magna's or suma's, but since they're leaders they should be at least a model student. They're student leaders, they should be students first then leaders.
11. Do you think we have a chance of winning the Eng'g Cup next year, given that we garnered last place this year? How do you plan to improve our standing next year?
If we get our students to participate more, I think we have a shot. All we need to do is encourage our students to join. And everything else comes next.
12. Should you win as a CS Rep, UP Parser becomes part of your responsibilites since you will be automatically appointed Managing Editor. How do you plan to contribute to Parser?
I think the best way to contribute is by sharing ESC and Engineering related issues, activities and events since most of us Computer Science students really have no idea what's going on over the college.
13. In an alternate universe where you're not taking up Computer Science, what would be your course and why?
Uhmm... If I remember right, I went through my talent test for Music over at UST (even after I confirmed for UP!). Haha. So maybe I'd be a music student, or as I recently learned I would really like to take Comparative Literature.
14. Give us the best computer-related joke you've got.
Are computers males or females? You decide.
TOP 5 REASONS WHY COMPUTERS MUST BE MALE:
5. They're heavily dependent on external tools and equipment.
4. They periodically cut you off right when you think you've established a network connection.
3. They'll usually do what you ask them to do, but they won't do more than they have to and they won't think of it on their own.
2. They're typically obsolete within five years and need to be traded in for a new model. Some users, however, feel they've already invested so much in the damn machine that they're compelled to remain with an under powered system.
1. They get hot when you turn them on, and that's the only time you have their attention.
FIVE REASONS COMPUTERS MUST BE FEMALE:
5. No one but their creator understands their logic.
4. Even the smallest mistakes are immediately committed to memory for future reference.
3. The native language used to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
2. The message, "Bad command or filename," is about as informative as "If you don't know why I'm mad at you, then I'm certainly not going to tell you."
1. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
15. Would you rather be the next Bill Gates or the next Steve Jobs? Why?
Bill Gates? Come on, who doesn't want to be rich? Haha.
